The last year has changed the way people look at things. For example, the rising cost of energy and the increased awareness of the green movement, has resulted in many building owners taking a second look at the Building Automation System. It is now viewed more as an Energy Management System. We have spent the last 30 years helping our customers save energy by utilizing schedules, optimum start, optimized setpoints and demand limiting routines. It is more important than ever that our customers understand the tools they have at their disposal to optimize the building controls to save energy. Our customer training program has ramped up in recent years and is now more focused on these issues than ever before. Our WebCTRL software has also had added features to help report on the energy consumption as well as the comfort of the occupants.
Automatic Controls is taking steps to provide our customers with even more support with energy savings. We are a member of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). We went through the process with Energy Star of certifying our office building. Two of our people are also studying for the LEED AP test. In addition we have added the Lumisys lighting control system to our platform. HVAC is the single largest energy component in a typical office buildings. Lighting is the second largest. Between HVAC and Lighting we can help control approximately 70% to 75% of the energy load in most buildings.
