President Obama visits MyBnk!!

Big Thanks to Prez Obama for taking time out of his meeting with the G20 Leaders to visit the MyBnk office on the 1st April. Arrivng unannounced, he congratulated MyBnk and some fortunate young MyBnkers and underlined how relevant it was teach people about money during the current "credit crunch".

MyBnk Case Study

St. Matthew's is an academy that specialises in business startup and money management. MyBnk first established its close relationship with St Matthew's Academy after Christmas 2008 during a press week at the school.

During this week, students were introduced to the MyBnk-in-a-Box sch
eme and encouraged to generate ideas together in groups. The school bank was officially opened at a ceremony which included one group performing their own MyBnk rap.

The MyBnk-in-a-Box has been so popular that it has now been extended to the primary school. It will soon be extended to the soon to be developed sixth form college.

The MyBnk YAP visit HoaresBank

The YAP team met for a visit to HoaresBank, one of the oldest banks in Central London. The group were given a tour around the bank by the colourful Edward Hoare, one of the bank directors. They were shown records and documents dating from when the bank first opened in 1672, giving them the chance to travel back through a time machine and experience the hidtory of banking and money. They were also shown a cheque dating back 300 Years as well as lottery tickets before the Naitonal Lottery was invented!!

The tour was followed by a question and answer session over tea and chocolate biscuits during which the YAP members couldn't get enough of Edward Hoare's stories and encounters as a teenager abroad.

For most of the members, listening to Edward’s 7 Rules of Life was the most interesting part of the day: (Be inspired and check 'em out @ http://www.universalrisk.org/news1.htm)

It seems the YAP members weren't the only ones who enjoyed themselves with Edward Hoare explaining “it was a great pleasure to be in the company of people who were interested to understand what an organization like ours stands for.”

We would like to thank Edward Hoare for providing us with a fun day out full of laughs!
