Rooms With the Best Views

As a travel writer, I’ve stayed in hundreds of resorts and hotels over the years, and these are my favorite rooms with a view. As these properties benefit from remarkable locations, it’s difficult to choose a bad room, but I’ve included some specific recommendations when appropriate. After all, when a vacation is over, which do you remember more: the room or the view?

Health and Safety Tips

Take Some Time Before Taking Your Medications

by: John Gobbels, Medjet VP/COO

Many travelers don’t realize their prescribed or over the counter (OTC) medications may be illegal in other countries. Daily OTC and prescription medications that have federal regulations or lack thereof here in the U.S. could be illegal in other parts of the world. As a savvy traveler, it’s important to take some time to verify that the medications you will require for your trip don’t place you or your health in hot water.  Click here for the rest of the story

Medjet In The News

The Interview: Roy Berger, MedjetAssist
As seen in the Everett Potter’s Travel Report…

If you become seriously ill or injured while you’re traveling – that’s ill as in requiring hospitalization – you’ll likely want nothing more than to be at home with your family and your own doctor in a nearby hospital.

But guess who pays to have you repatriated on a medical flight?

If you answered your health insurance policy, your travel insurance policy or a platinum level credit card, you’re wrong. They won’t cover you. You’ll have to pay for it yourself  – and it will cost you a fortune. A one-way medical flight from Western Europe to the U.S. runs $70,000 and up.

Or you can purchase an emergency medical evacuation membership before you go from a provider such as MedjetAssist. If you’re hospitalized more than 150 miles away from home, they can provide you with a medically equipped and staffed aircraft to fly you free of charge to the hospital of your choice. MedjetAssist is based in Birmingham, Alabama and is the exclusive provider of worldwide air ambulance and medical repatriation services for AARP. I asked Roy Berger, President/CEO of MedjetAssist, to explain how it works and how it differs from travel insurance.   Click here for the link to the full story.
