5 Autoresponder Tips
Automated email marketing is all the rage. People are thinking more about marketing processes rather than just one-off campaigns. Maybe people are getting more sophisticated, or maybe it's just the economy. Whatever the case, this can get complicated fast: triggers, transactonal messaging, drip campaigns, and surveys -- where to begin? Case Study: Secrets of the City
Speaking of automation, here's a case study of how one MailChimp customer, Secrets of the City, uses our RSS-to-email tool to send updates to their readers (without even logging in to MailChimp):

How DKIM Impacts Deliverability
If you follow the email space closely, you know about authentication, and how ISPs check for it. Experts have pondered whether or not ISPs will begin blocking senders whose emails aren't authenticated. ISPs say they won't, and they don't. But in a roundabout way, they actually do. If you're a high volume email sender, it's time to get authenticated.

Merge Tag Cheatsheet
If you're a MailChimp pro, we created a handy merge tag cheatsheet. It's got all our merge tags for basic formatting, to RSS, to dynamic content. You should bookmark it, so you can grab a merge tag without actually logging in to the app:

Email Stylesheets (advanced trick)
In case you missed it, we recently launched a new way to get your email designs into MailChimp: Import by URL.

You just give MailChimp a URL, and we'll visit that web page and plop it into MailChimp as a newsletter. We'll even add an unsubscribe footer for you if you want. This is super handy if you publish a lot of content via CMS, and you'd like to automatically turn it into email campaigns. Even cooler when combined with our new autoresponders tool -- imagine an automated campaign that automatically pulls from your up-to-the-minute updated website.

Hidden within this awesome feature is an even more powerful uber-feature: the ability to specify an email stylesheet. With an email stylesheet, your web page can look one way for visitors to your website, but totally different when imported into MailChimp. For example, email headers, footers, and side columns.

Mechanical Turk Experiment
We recently blogged about a little color experiment we did at MailChimp, where we created over 700,000 different email template header and color palette combinatons, and used Mechanical Turk to get 25,960 designs reviewed by human beings in 19 hrs.

Freshbooks integration with MailChimp

If you're looking around for an online CRM tool, be sure to check out Batchbook, because they impress the heck out of us. Out of the blue, they announced seamless integration with MailChimp. Apparently, all they did was read our API documentation and just got it done without ever asking us a single question. They know what they're doing over there. They integrate with other apps too.

We've been building really quick microsites lately (mostly for tutorials like this)  with Squarespace. It's amazingly easy to use, and makes building websites fast. We got to talking with them, and they're really cool dudes (case in point). Anyway, they ended up offering all MailChimp customers a nice 10% discount if you use the promo code: chimp37
