Inside this issue... Celebrating Christmas One Film at a Time Hi <<First Name>>, Does your family have special Christmas traditions? Our family opened presents on Christmas morning. My sister and I woke up to sneak peeks at what was under the tree and anxiously wait for our parents to get up. Some friends of mine had a tradition of finding their parents’ hiding places for Christmas presents. Then they unwrapped their gifts, examined them, and re-wrapped them. No surprises under the tree for them. Whatever your traditions, you will probably make time for relaxation during this busy season. One great way to do that is pick out a favorite movie, pop some popcorn, and sit down by a cozy fire to enjoy the film. There are some wonderful Christmas films that will put you in the mood for the coming holidays. Even if you live in the tropics (or South Texas), you can enjoy a winter wonderland. If you're wondering what films will appeal to your family, visit our Movie Reviews section, which includes reviews from a number of sources. We're excited about the addition of reviews from Greg Wright and Jeff Walls of Past the Popcorn, the result of a new partnership. It's part of our mission to provide the best reviews from multiple points of view so you can make well-informed decisions about your family's entertainment. "Twilight" the Next Harry Potter? by Jeff Walls According to the hype, Twilight (releasing Nov. 21) is the new tween sensation, the next Harry Potter and the movie that is creating a tourist trap out of a place named Forks, Washington; just a short ride across the water from my hometown. I can only give my opinion of it cinematically and I must say that I wasn’t very impressed. Despite his indulgence in alcohol and weary outlook on life, Father Simeon genuinely cares for his flock. On the other hand, Father Keene is just going through the motions of priesthood while carrying a very painful secret.
The film does have some mature subject matter, and a lady who says she doesn't believe in the virgin birth receives quite a tongue lashing from Father Keene. This story has a strong redemptive theme at film's end and its emphasis on forgiveness is praiseworthy. [edited for length]

"I just found out I have breast cancer. A dear friend gave me this book. It is truly amazingly beautiful.
When you walk with the Lord you sometimes think it is more about you having faith than about Him drawing you close. The Shack is a moving, beautiful example of how He meets us where we are and is able to work all things together for good.
I will recommend this to everyone I know." [ Read more... ] Buyer Review Rating: Pre-buy DVD TODAY! Fireproof - DVD by Violet Early
