Inside this issue... A Mother's Legacy Hi <<First Name>>, Do you have something special planned for this weekend? Breakfast in bed? Maybe dinner out at a favorite restaurant? Or perhaps something simple like attending church with your entire family? I've thought a lot about my family this week. My brother David is a pastor in Texas, and this morning he sent us his Mother's Day sermon to read. Our mom died many years ago, but her legacy lives on. David's sermon is a tribute to her and some of the things we learned from her.
We learned love. Our mom expressed her love verbally and with her daily actions. Sometimes it was washing our clothes or making our favorite cookies, but often it was three words said aloud: "I love you."
We learned joy. Our mom loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor, which we all inherited. She loved having fun, whether it was yelling at the television during a college football game or instigating a pillow fight with our cousins during a family trip.
We learned that God is the most important thing in life. Mom loved the Bible and she loved talking to God. She got that from her mother, who often sang hymns and recited scripture as she worked around their home.
Our mom taught us many more things, but those are the most important. I'm grateful for her legacy of faith that lives in me, and hope I can keep passing it on.From the screening room, Angela Walker ChristianMovieNews.com
Industry Interview Behind the Scenes with Haylie Duff of Love Takes Wing by Angela Walker Actress and musician Haylie Duff joins a distinguished group of actors and actresses who have been part of the Love Comes Softly series. The Hallmark Channel recently broadcast the two latest films, Love Takes Wing (now out on DVD) and Love Finds a Home (to be released later this year on DVD), in which Haylie plays Annie, best friend to Belinda Simpson. We recently talked with Haylie about the release of the DVD, her career as an actress and musician, and friendship. How familiar were you with the stories and other films before you got the role of Annie?
Haylie: I actually wasn't that familiar with the material when I first read the script, but after I read it and knew I wanted to be a part of it, then I tried to familiarize myself with the previous stories and movies.
What was it about the script that captured your attention and made you want to be part of it?
Haylie: I had wanted to do a period piece for a really long time, and I also fell in love with Annie. I thought that she was smart and... Dove Review: This is a story that makes a person think about his/her own personal relationships over the years. It is a story about how sometimes people are afraid of future love interests because of their past experiences. In being afraid we sometimes need the help from someone else to point out the real problem. This is an endearing movie that shows how mistakes in one's past can prevent the heart from seeing what is right in front of the person now. This story reflects the fact that sometimes when we make the wrong choices when we are young, the consequences can affect our lives well into the future. We gladly award this movie the Dove "Family-Approved" Seal for 12+. Films from Favorite Authors Learn from the wisdom of some of today's favorite authors. About ChristianCinema.com The Biggest Family Movie Store On The Planet Buyer Review Rating: Overcome - DVD by helen dotson
"I watched this movie with my two teenage sons (one being a minister himself) and they both said they could relate to the characters cause they know what it is like having their so called friends make fun of them when they find out they are a Christian. I think every family should see this movie together cause it will start a great discussion especially among pre-teens and teens. This is a must have for your movie collection." "This movie LATE ONE NIGHT is fantastic. We are talking about one of the very best 1/2 hour movies ever made. I say that because it proclaims the gospel message of Jesus Christ very clearly and challenges us to share the good news of Jesus Christ at ALL COST, even at the point of suffering from time to time (Read 1 Peter 4:1-2)."
