Inside this issue... What's Your Reality?
Hi <<First Name>>, Do you enjoy "reality television?" I do. I denied it for a long time, but I can't any longer. Many of my favorites are on the HGTV and Food Network channels. They give me ideas about decorating my house, new recipes to try, and how to make life more comfortable.
I also enjoy the other type of "reality television." Competitive shows where you get voted off or kicked off because you don't perform. Sometimes I wonder if I could go on one of them. How about you?
Do you have a talent for entertaining? Audition for "Dancing with the Stars," "American Idol," or "America’s Got Talent." Are you a genius with food? Try out for "Ultimate Recipe Showdown" or "Top Chef." Are you competitive mentally and physically? You might be a natural for "The Apprentice," "The Amazing Race," or "Survivor."
These shows fascinate us. We can’t wait to see the latest episodes and discuss them the next day at work. We mourn when the season is over and watch the Internet for extras that didn’t make it onto the TV show.
Although the lives of the "reality show stars" may seem more exciting and dramatic than our own, it doesn't last. The lights, cameras, and glamorous locations are eventually exchanged for their own living rooms and television sets where they watch the next season's contestants.
Fortunately, as believers, we are grounded in the ultimate reality. It's often one that can't be seen, but is more real than we will ever know on this earth. If what the Apostle John saw in the Revelation was just a tenth of the reality awaiting us, there's no television show that comes even close to comparing.

Industry Interview Homeschooling Dad Directs Film by Angela Walker George Escobar, director/writer/producer of the new movie Come What May, is a homeschooling dad who made a radical decision a few years ago. He chose to leave a fast-paced career as a Vice President of Product Development for Discovery and Executive Director for AOL/Time Warner to start Advent Film Group, an organization dedicated to raising up a new generation of filmmakers. It’s a big career change to go from working with some of the top entertainment and communication companies in the world to creating films with homeschooled students. What prompted that transition for you?
George: The move from basically a Hollywood-run industry to the Christian filmmaking side was a mutual one. The inspiration for that really came from Sherwood Pictures. I had an opportunity to speak directly with Stephen Kendrick at the San Antonio Independent Film Festival back in 2006, and he really challenged me to consider the fact that I had been given opportunities from the Lord, and what was I going to do with them? Who was I working for? [ Read more... ]

Come What May - DVDDove Review: Conviction. Doing what is right come what may. This is the theme of this film. A young man named Caleb attends the college he desires to attend, Patrick Henry College, but his mother tells him he must win the National Moot Court Championship or she will pull his tuition money in his sophomore year. His mother doesn't really want him there. There is tension at home as Caleb's father, a teacher, is a strong Christian whose viewpoints differ from his wife. In fact, he is trying to find a publisher for his book which includes spiritual themes, and he knows he may be fired from his job if the book is published. Caleb meets a young woman named Rachel at Patrick Henry who challenges him to try to overturn Roe Vs. Wade despite his reluctance, realizing that he probably won't win the Moot Court Championship if he takes this particular approach. The film deals with marital tension but is a strong spiritual film about doing what is right. We gladly award this movie our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal.
