Inside this issue... God's Timeless Word Through Today's MediaHi <<First Name>>, What types of communication do you use? Do you talk with your hands? Do you speak in code with friends you’ve known for a long time? Maybe you have a regional accent that others find hard to follow.
My answer is “yes” to all of those. My friend Janie also says I speak with a “sound” language. When I’m not sure what word to use, I substitute an appropriate sound. After working with me for four years, Janie understood me very well.
That was the original reason for translating Scripture into other languages. When the Israelites were captives of the Babylonians, they spoke Aramaic and no longer understood Hebrew. So more than 300 years before Christ, the Torah was translated into Aramaic, the language of the exiles.
Since that time, the Bible has been translated into hundreds of languages. Some translations are literal word-for-word and others are paraphrases. It has also been presented in many different formats: study Bible, chain reference, student version, picture Bible, etc.
These many versions and formats all have a common goal: making the Bible understandable to the reader. With the popularity of digital and visual media, there are many now on DVD. Some are dramatic enactments of the Scripture and others are narrated readings, but all present the Word of God.
In celebration of National Bible Week (November 23 - 30), we've gathered some of today's favorite translations in DVD format. Industry Interview Tim Chey: Director of "The Genius Club" by Angela Walker Director/Writer/Producer Tim Chey studied law at Boston and Harvard Universities, then attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, before being accepted at the USC Film School. He practiced entertainment law for two years before stepping into the world of film production. After writing and directing “Fakin’ da Funk” for a Hollywood studio, he turned his talents to writing, producing and directing the Christian films Gone and, most recently, The Genius Club. What was your goal in making The Genius Club?
Tim: I wanted to make a film that 'de-brainwashed' the masses of people who have succumbed to the thinking of the 5 big media companies. I love 1 Corinthians 18:1 - ""I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
How did you select the cast and why were they interested in working on this film?
Tim: We had 7,000 actors submit so we went through... Tired of the ongoing violence and crimes being perpetrated against the people of their country, especially the children, they banded together and took a stand for peace.
Without firing a shot or raising their voices, these women succeeded where the United Nations failed. Buyer Review Rating: The List - DVD by Jason Taylor "This is a great film. I got the opportunity to see it on the big screen and also bought a copy when it first came out. The film looks fantastic and has an incredible cast. There is a good amount of scripture, a CLEAR biblical worldview and a final message about the power of prayer. This 2 for $20 deal is fantastic!
