Inside this issue... It's Thai Time Hi <<First Name>>, Every so often I get together with a group of friends to enjoy Thai food. In the years we've been meeting, we've had four weddings, a baby, the death of grandparents and parents, and two members move away. Looking at our lives is like looking at a roadmap. Sometimes our daily lives are very close. At other times, our paths cross for a little bit, then go on in other directions. But we always know that some point in the future, we'll come back together again. Those friendships are precious. We've seen the best and the worst in each other and experienced the heights of happiness and the depths of sadness. I know my friends will stick by me no matter what. Who are your close friends? Do you get together regularly? It's hard to find time when life is busy, but it's important to have those connections. Make a date. It might take seven rounds of emails and thirteen phone calls, but if you stick to it, you'll find a day and time that works for everyone. From the screening room (and Thai restaurant), Angela Walker ChristianMovieNews.com Earth is All Over the Map Review by Jeff Walls With the much trumpeted release date of Earth Day, a holiday celebrating our planet and promoting the protection of it, I was expecting to learn something about the care of our planet from Earth; but I didn’t. Instead the film is just all over the map, not just literally, but figuratively as well. There is a lot to like about Earth. First and foremost are the animals themselves. What I enjoy most about films like this are the ways in which the animals demonstrate what I would consider very human behaviors, such as the way a mother elephant protects her baby. Earth has its fair share of stunning cinematography, but unfortunately there was about an equal amount of the photography that just wasn’t that impressive or was even ugly. There are so many different elements to this film that there really isn’t much of a focus. Co-directors Alastair Fothergill and Mark Linfield attempt to streamline the focus by structuring the film as a year in the life of our planet. Unfortunately, because the plot bounces around the planet so rapidly, it is difficult to follow this concept. Still, due to the panoramic visuals that will look infinitely better on the big screen than in the living room, I’d recommend if you plan on seeing Earth to do so in the theater; especially if kids are involved as the cute animals are surely enough to keep their interest.
