Inside this issue... Early Bird or Night Owl? Hi <<First Name>>, When the sun comes up in the morning, are you standing outside fully dressed waiting for it? Or does the sun rise for you about 7:30 AM? Do you come alert at the first sound of roosters, or do you find your second and third winds after 9:00 PM? I've always been a night owl. Going to bed before 11 PM feels early to me, and when I do, I can't always get to sleep right away. Consequently, I'm not a morning person. However, I joined a gym this year and enjoy a morning workout to start the day. I go to the gym before work and feel invigorated and energized for the day. Sometimes the cardio workouts seem boring so I memorize Bible verses while I'm exercising. It's a physical, mental and spiritual workout. My music pastor started a class called "Power for Life" and I joined it last week. We meet at 6:30 AM Thursday mornings and do 40 minutes of Christ-centered yoga and exercise. Then we meditate on a Scripture and ask God what He wants to say to us. For the first time in a long time, I feel sharper in mind, body and spirit. Like Paul, I'm running to finish the race and win the prize. I'll see you at the finish line. Newman, Ph.D. When Ron Howard's screen adaptation of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code premiered in the spring of 2006, Sony Pictures delivered the Church an unexpected gift. People who never would have attended a week-long evening series on Church History were flocking to seminars promising to expose The Da Vinci Code! As a result, millions of people learned more about the history of the Church, and delved more deeply into Christology than they otherwise might. A little confrontation is often just what the Church needs. Nothing raises the blood like battle – even in academic issues. Bringing Up Bobby - DVD Christian comedy is a rarity, and good Christian comedy is even more so. Dove Review: Being the oldest is not always easy. Due to a tragic accident three years previously James, the oldest, was left to be guardian of his three siblings. He has a sister Andrea and two brothers, Dennis and Bobby. As they grew up Andrea got married, Dennis was an aimless wanderer, Bobby was still trying to find himself and James had accepted the Lord into his life. James and Bobby still lived in the family home. It has been years and the estate is not settled but, as Bobby's friend Eric is having problems at home and the brothers try to help him, they find out that their parents estate is going to finally be settled. Now the brothers have problems of their own to figure out. This movie shows us that no matter how bad your life is, it is a lot easier when you have people who care. Plus if you believe in God and in the power of prayer, He will help you through the most trying of times. We award this DVD the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal. "This was a really good movie. We thought it was about the Apostle Peter, but it is a biography of Peter Marshall, the youngest chaplain ever in Washington, D.C. He had quite the heart for the Gospel. We need more like him in today's world. I recommend it." [ Read more... ] Buyer Review Rating: Faith Like Potatoes - DVD by Lighthouse Community Church
"This movie is an all around powerful, clean, movie. I love that fact that it is based on a true story, so it has the ups and downs that life throws our way, but shows that God is victorious. Great acting, great message, I have been recommending it to everyone I talk to." [Edited for length]
