A Circle of Blessing,
A Retreat for folks ages 50 & over
May 11-13, 2009, at Drift Creek Camp

Please join a collaborative effort between MARP (Mennonite Association of Retired Persons) and DCC by attending A Circle of Blessing, Experiencing Celtic Christian Spirituality. This first-time northwest retreat will be led by  Marlene Kropf, a former Oregonian and now part of Mennonite Church USA leadership and professor at AMBS. Over the years, Kropf has led Celtic pilgrimages to Ireland, Scotland & England.

She will lead four sessions during the retreat which will offer opportunities to explore spriitual practices such as contemplative prayer, hospitality, spiritual friendship, and more. According to Kropf, "Among the many gifts offered by the Celtic Christian tradition is a keen awareness of God's presence in daily life. Though nurturing such a lively spiritual awareness can be a challenge for 21st century North Americans, the Celtic tradition of prayer-blessings offers many rich resources for contemporary people of faith. The retreat will provide a space for guests to explore and experience such blessings related to beginnings and endings, solitude and community, hospitality and daily work, as well as pilgrimage. "

The gathering will begin on Monday, May 11th at 4pm and continue through Wednesday noon. All meals will be provided and there will be opportuniites for free-time activities to explore the camp, learn more about MARP and SOOP from Executive Director, Jay Roth, tie a comforter with friends, gather around the fire, sing, and research geneaology.

Guests should bring: Bible, journal, camera, walking shoes, bedding and pillow, flashlight, appetite for delicious home-made meals, as well as the desire to have a good time and connect with others.

The cost is $99, but a $20 discount is given to MARP members. For those who are unfamiliar with MARP, a $20 1-year membership is included in registration. Registration is available on-line at www.driftcreek.org and more information is available by contacting Brenda Kauffman at info@driftcreek.org. The registration deadline is April 17th.
