Issue 1 |
It's a fresh and exhilarating time of year-and not just because of the chilly weather! It's a time for new beginnings, new resolutions, and even deeper commitment to existing goals. One of our recurring resolutions here at Zula is to engage your child's natural curiosity. We aim to do this in fun and imaginative ways that reflect and embrace their everyday experiences and environments.
February struck us as the perfect time to focus our newsletter on snow and ice, as many people are up to their ears in it! Even if there is no ice outside your door, we know you can find it in your freezers - so we have created a few "chilly" activities to enjoy with your child.
Every issue of The Intergalactic Inquirer will be packed full of new activities to enjoy with your child. So please put us in your email address book so we don't end up in your Spam folder.

Q. What happens to water when it changes from snow to rain?
A. It's often very cold up in the sky where there are clouds, and if it's colder than 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius, then the water that falls from a cloud could be frozen - like snow. But if the temperature near the ground is warmer than 32°F/0°C, then the snow will warm up as it falls toward Earth, changing from a solid (snow) to a liquid (rain)! If the temperature near the ground is colder than 32°F/0°C, then the snow will fall all the way down. But if a snowflake lands on your hand, which is warmer than 32°F/0°C, the snowflake will melt - turning the snow back into liquid water!

Cammie from Belmont, MA writes...
"My 3½ year old daughter was walking by my computer the other day, glanced at the screen, and exclaimed, "Hey, that's Mars". Indeed, it was a photo of Mars on Yahoo news. One of the first things out of her mouth each morning is "Do you think there's a new Zula Patrol today?" Thanks for creating such a fun and educational show!"
