Holiday Hair and Make Up Glamour from the Art Team
Many of us look forward to this season.  Getting together with friends, attending company and neighborhood parties and the traditional holiday events.  This is our time to look good, dress up and, yes, Party.  Here are some tips from our team on how to get your glam on this holiday season.

“A nice pony tail is always a beautiful look.  It’s a great option, because it suits many people and is simple, which is the key to holiday style,” comments Gina, senior stylist.  Other simple ways to achieve fantastic holiday hair:  use Bumble & Bumble’s Shine Spray to smooth all of the hair around the face for a shiny, silky, elegant look.  Let medium to long hair air dry and then use a hot curling iron to style.  Wrap an inch wide hair section around the iron and let go, you can use the top layer of the hair and random pieces all around.  Brush up the hair with Davines Shine No.2 in your fingertips and let it softly lay on the shoulders.  The result is a very feminine, flattering style.

We’re loving the Davines line.  Here’s what Emily, senior stylist, has to say about one of the products, “We are a highly impressed with the amazing versatility of the No 9 Structuring Mist by Davines".  Over the past several months, our stylists have found that the product can be used to do so much more than just "finish" a look.  It can decrease "bulk"... essential for creating the smooth, sleek bottom line of our “Em Bob.”   It can create movable texture and has the perfect amount of hold - spray it on in the morning and your style stays put for the whole day, without ever feeling stiff.  Give it a try...No 9 does something for everyone!

We’re seeing some beautiful color trends for 2008.   Deep tones, creamy blondes and chocolate browns in one tone with natural diffused lighter tones accenting.  Romantic, cozy and gorgeously shiny.  Our color team is loving these rich, elegant winter colors, which are great for all parties.  “Let’s admit it.  If my hair looks great, I feel great.“

Let's Shop...

One of our new favorites is Gia b at the Derby St Shops. In addition to the pre-holiday sale, they just received some great resort dresses for anyone lucky enough to be planning a warm getaway or with resort plans.  The dresses are by Julie Brown and have beautiful bright Pucci prints.  This month, Maxime Beauty readers receive 10% off any one item when they mention the newsletter.

For every day accessories and party accessories I feel like I’m in NYC’s Soho when shopping at Crossing Main for Shoes in Hingham.  Every piece is amazing – the variety of beautiful clothing, shoes, boots, belts, and bags from the states and Europe.  Sue Payne, the owner, carries many wonderful lines like Nanette Lepore and Lulu Guinness.  Sue knows fashion.  I asked her recently about her favorite piece –she loves make-up bag clutches, but adores her black patent belt, which can be worn over a black dress with a black high boot (she has a few) and you’re ready for a night out.  Maxime Beauty readers receive 10% off purchases by bringing in the newsletter.

Ronit’s Corner...

Flying with turbulence was not fun on the Nor’easter of Saturday, November 3rd, but as soon as we passed Canada, it was quite calm again.  I was heading to my other hometown, Kiron in Israel.  Israel is such an amazing place.  The sun is always up and warms your whole body as if brushing you with her rays and that week it was 80 degrees.  I had 7 days to spend at home and I took advantage of every moment.  My Grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, so I spent lots of time with her.  However, I managed to get my sis and my brother to the beach one day.  The beaches in Israel are just “fine,” powdery sand warming your toes, lots of umbrellas and lounge chairs all the way to the water, restaurants on the water where you can order a beer and a watermelon or pita bread and hummus.  Do you have a visual yet?  I would love to take you all with me just to taste that warm hummus and yummy pita bread.  We had a long conversation about life, husbands, wives, (did I say kids?) – just imagine 8 hours on the chair with food, good beer, and great conversation…..

Another day, my Mom, sister and I went to Herzelia, which is south of Tel Aviv.  The beach over there is  “maxime” – magnificent.   We checked into Hotel Danielle and had an Israeli breakfast at 9:00. It’s a buffet with many delicious stations.  My favorite is the cheese station – all kinds of incredible cheese, white French and Bulgarian, goat and sheep, and station with fresh- baked, crusty breads and Burekas (pastry dough stuffed with cheese, potatoes or spinach – yum!).  An eggs station and “Muesli Bar” – granola with fresh fruit on plain, creamy yogurt.  Not to be forgotten, an Israeli salad bar.  After this meal, we had massage appointments, which were very nice.  Later, we spent time at the spa terrace by the pool overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

I came back, but not before I stopped at a studio, Art of Jewelry, and picked up some beautiful pieces from two designers, Orna and Rinat.  All silver, brilliant, hand-made with lots of soul in each piece.  We’re featuring them at Maxime.  You can also check them out at OR-Jewelry.com.  Prince, Madonna and Victoria Beckham are all customers.

Coming Soon... I visited a couple of sharp, young doctors who have a clinic for cosmetic dentistry on the South Shore and had a little chat with them. I enjoyed seeing a clinic that was quite large and very modern – very NYC or LA.   The best part is they not only perform cosmetic dental work, they offer Botox and Fillers, that is facial fillers, of course!  I will have the full story for the next Ronit’s Corner.
