Ronit’s Corner

We went to NYC last weekend, but only for a few hours. We had to taste some NYC food and of course, SHOP, SHOP, SHOP!

First we checked into the Marriott on Lexington and 48th. It was a good location and for the money, just right ($289/night). We grabbed a cab and went to Soho to visit Satellite Paris Jewelers where I bought a great ring and a beautiful necklace. Check out their website www.satelliteparis.com. I may bring them to the salon for the holidays, let me know what you think…

Then we stopped at a couple of shoes stores. How fun, lots of shoes and lots of great finds! We sat down looking at all the people passing by with nice sundresses or a pair of jeans and a great flowing top; lots of fabric very city chic.

Now about the hair, lots of short hair - very French, long hair with lots of layers, free and fluffy, and those dramatic Bobs, or Care in French, so much elegance. Rich hair colors with just a few highlights that looked almost like faded ribbons. It looked so sophisticated and tastefully done. The blondes where so creamy, just like my yogurt with pineapple and fresh shaved coconut…

Definitely you must try NYC in the summer - good sales, great fashion and good food. The design team is going to NY this month to Bumble and bumble University for four days. Let’s see what they come up with.!

Summertime, Summertime... Well, you know what they say here in New England, once the Fourth of July comes, summer is over! But wait, not so fast… we have a couple more months to enjoy watching the kids on the slip and slide or sunning ourselves at the beach. So we have some more useful tips for you this summer.

A great product for summertime is Davines’ Nou Nou Pak. This hair treatment is made with Olive Oil, which acts like a drink for your hair. Just apply to the ends of your hair after you shower and leave on for 10 minutes or more, then rinse. Your hair will be super soft and pliable.

If you’re a swimmer, don’t forget to use your Bumble and bumble Sunday Shampoo once a week to help rid the hair of chlorine and product build-up. Davines’ Purifying Shampoo will help with the drying effects of chlorine as well.

Summer Curls... Well, anyone who’s seen our senior stylist Gina knows she has some wicked curls. So this month, we’re going to get her advice on designing curly hair for the summer:

Those of you with curly hair know that having one inch cut off can sometimes seem like five inches. At Maxime, we avoid that by customizing your curls.

Because no two curls are the same, we take into consideration your type of curl and hair texture before determining which cutting technique to use. We can create volume using a layering method combining point cutting and carving, then add Bumble and bumble’s Curl Conscious Crème or Davines’ Curl Enhancing Serum and diffuse.

We reduce volume, by creating longer layers and dry cutting. Great products to use for subtle volume control are Ego Boost or Bumble and Bumble Defrizz.

With this heat, curly hair needs all the help it can get. At Maxime we will coach you each step of the way to create sexy, shiny curls.
