Ronit's Corner: STAFF NEWS A big congratulation to Lyndsay, who recently completed Maxime’s in-house styling program. Lyndsay has been training with us for over a year and has developed great skills for beautiful cutting and styling. Welcome to Julie, our newest stylist. Over the last two years, Julie has cut & styled at area salons and recently finished Maxime’s trainee program. She is very talented and passionate about her work. Kelly and Melissa also recently received their color certification through the Maxime training program and are working their color magic on our clients. Our Senior Stylist, Gina, is fresh from New York City where she spent four days at bumble & bumble. She learned all the latest cuts and styles – from razor cuts to the “big hair” craze. Next time you’re in the salon, feel free to ask her for some styling advice. During the month of June, we’re offering a special rate for initial bookings with Julie and Lyndsay please Call in for the detail 781.7492239
LAST MONTH'S MEN'S CUT-A-THON BENEFIT
On Friday, May 2nd, Maxime hosted a Men's Cut-a-thon to benefit the Hingham Education Foundation. Over $1,500 was raised for the purchase of Smart Boards, interactive, white boards for Hingham classrooms. We’re thankful for the great turnout of clients, friends and Hingham parents and glad we could support this worthy cause. SUMMER BEAUTY TIPS b.yoffi’s mineral glow is a perfect product for summer. It’s a sheer tinted moisturizer that produces a great sun-kissed glow with the added benefit of SPF 15. Our mineral foundation in pressed powder also works well during the warmer weather as it takes away oil while providing more coverage. Hair for the summer is very light and fun. We love to soften brunette hair with beautiful honey blonde highlights for a very natural, summer look. We carry Davine’s products in the salon, which includes a great line with sun protection for color-treated hair. The ghd iron is getting lots of press. This awesome tool is worth the investment – it will tame your hair when it’s humid and allows you to ditch the ponytail this summer in favor of gorgeous, flowing locks. We carry ghd irons at the salon.
HAIR LASER REMOVAL
On to a different type of hair treatment … my recent favorite beauty discovery is laser hair removal. In just five sessions, I am a believer. Away with unwanted hair, in with clean & smooth skin. The best part – not having to shave or wax again. Debbie at The South Shore Skin Center is a fantastic esthetician who removes hair quickly, efficiently and painlessly. The average treatment time is 10 minutes per session and in just 3-6 sessions, you leave with super smooth skin. It’s worth every penny. www.southshoreskincenter.com
A YOUTHFUL GLOW
For the last few years, I’ve been patient of Dr. Saad at The Skin Center. He’s treated me for dermatological reasons – mostly skin checks. I’m a fan of the Center for several reasons – their great customer service (no waits in the lobby and a warm, friendly staff), the facility is beautiful, and their offerings are impressive. Over the last few months, I’ve been visiting Dr. Eisen and Dr. Saad to learn about anti-aging laser face treatments. Together, they have over 46 years practicing dermatology. Both are published authors, lecturers, and clinical instructors. www.southshoreskincenter.com
Here’s a quick look at some of the available treatments and one that I tried:
Ipl is a non-invasive laser treatment that removes dark spots, broken capillaries, and sun damage. Debbie moves the laser up and down the face to produce tighter, younger-looking skin. I tried it and love the results. It’s a treatment that can be done once a month to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin.
Fraxell Restore, which is appropriate for women ages 20-40. It’s similar to a light face lift, but non-invasive and without the pain and down time. It removes rosacea, freckles and sun damage and stimulates collagen growth, while maintaining a youthful, glow. It’s a 30-minute process and usually takes 3-5 treatments.
Fraxell Repair is more aggressive, similar to a face lift. It’s most appropriate for women 40+ and is particularly effective for reducing aging, wrinkles, and acne scarring. It’s a one-time treatment that takes 30-minutes. An oral sedative is given for pain and there’s a week’s down time post-treatment. LOVE FOR YOUR BODY I got switched on to yoga last year and am so grateful for the introduction. It’s been so transformative and restorative for my body and mind. Words cannot describe how incredible you feel after a class. I’ve found two local studios where I enjoying practicing. Open Doors Power Yoga has studios in Hanover & Weymouth. The classes are heatedand taught in the power vinyasa style. The instructors are wonderful. In particular, I like practicing with Barbara, Susan, Stephanie and Richard, the owner, who has a great sense of humor (www.opendoors7.com). I also enjoy practicing with Doreen in Scituate. Her space is in a beautiful room overlooking the marsh in Scituate. The setting combined with Doreen’s in-depth instruction make for an incredible way to start the day. www.artandsoulspace.com GOOD EATS
Last month, my friends, Patty Lynch, Ellen Brown and I ate at Banq in the South End. The space is beautiful, the appetizers were delish. Great spot for a summer dinner in the city. http://banqrestaur.web151.discountasp.net
