Miserable video release:

Dear Birdies,

I hope you are all exceedingly well and enjoying the sunshine! We have a wonderful new treat for you… another music video!

Now, this one has a story behind it…

When we first formed the band we were booking our first few shows and we asked a promoter in Bournemouth (that happening place, no offence if that’s where you’re from!) if we could play a show at his venue. We were met with the following reply:

"I so wanted to like Birdeatsbaby, because I'm a huge fan of musicals, klezmer, burlesque/cabaret, etc, but I found myself struggling with every track on myspace - mostly with the vocals, as they sounded to me like a group of spurned Sunday school teachers exacting their musical revenge; joyless, devoid of warmth, often shrill - ie, all the annoying aspects of Wuthering Heights without any of the mad sensuality. For me, music like this needs to be a lot earthier - I'm afraid this all sounds a bit po-faced dour to my ears."

Nice. Instead of crying ourselves to sleep about this we instead decided to make a video about it. We raided our mothers wardrobes, packed a picnic hamper, and spent a hilarious morning on the Sussex Downs with a dodgy old super 8 camera. Not as slick as out previous video, but we had a lot of fun doing it, and here is the finished result..

Directed and produced by the wonderful Philippa Bloomfield using a Super 8 Camera. You can also view it on youtube if you prefer.

We hope you like it, it was just a bit of fun, nothing too serious but we wanted to do something completely different than The Trouble, and show that we’re not all doom and gloom! Actually we’re a bit silly, a lot of the time. If you want to see the making of/out takes they can be viewed HERE

IN OTHER NEWS...

Tickets for the Album Launch Party are now on sale, if you haven’t got one, I’d recommend you do! This is really going to be a special show, with support from Charlie Khan & Bitter Ruin, two amazing acts that are not to be missed!

CHARLIE KHAN : "Dark, sardonic observations of life to connect the Victorian age with modern times."

BITTER RUIN : "Verbal jousting accompanied by bursts of machinegun acoustic guitar."

Tickets are on sale here and here. There will be prizes for two lucky ticket holders – a free album or t-shirt (your choice) so go! Buy them now!

We’re off on tour soon so we won’t be playing Brighton again for a few months, so please come down if you can – it’s going to be a really special gig, and we would love to share this album with you.

Really looking forward to seeing you all there… and we will have one more treat for you before the album is released! Ooh you lucky people.

Another album review has come through - you can read it here too!
