Plan Your Drill Program with Discover 3D

Geologists use 3D software to visualize and plan drilling activity. 

Encom Discover 3D v4 for MapInfo and Discover v10 features the Drill Planner Tool to aid in planning hole locations and orientation.  With the Discover 3D drill hole planner tool, geologists can dynamically create proposed drill holes or extend existing holes to intercept targets based on existing drilling, surface and subsurface data through 3D visualization of existing 2D and 3D datasets.  

The tool assists geologists to more accurately intercept targets by integrating all available data to determine the placement of proposed holes.  Eliminate guess work.  Once drilling tables have been brought into a Discover drill hole project, the task of planning is as simple as opening your drill tables, clicking on the desired hole location or entering coordinates and typing in the down hole details.  Watch the proposed hole appear within your existing drilling and subsurface interpretations.  If you don’t like what you see, instantly edit the hole characteristics. 
 

With Discover 3D, geologists can interrogate down hole data to access specific data points on the fly.  The figure above shows a screen shot of the drill planning tool dialog box and a 3D window.  In this view, drill holes have been themed by lithology from the drill database.  This tool can be viewed in a video demonstration.
