Multi-Item Shopping Carts

Starting this week, the shopping cart on our web site will actually handle more than one item at a time. So no more going through checkout over and over to buy multiple fabric designs. No more extra shipping charges. Whew. You'll be able to buy as much as fabric as you want. In order to accomplish this, sometime on Tuesday the 26th of August the Spoonflower web site will be down for a few minutes while we make this important update. Apologies in advance for the downtime.

Lower shipping rates! Woo-hoo! When we first launched the beta version of Spoonflower, we used shipping estimates based on rough estimates of actual costs. Now that we have almost three months of orders under our belts, we can finally roll out a system that's more accurate but still employs flat rates that are easy to understand and predict. In the case of multiple item orders, you will see incremental increases in the base costs listed above with each piece of fabric you add to your order, but nothing dramatic. It's possible we'll have to revise these rates again at some point, but I'm hopeful that everyone will be happy with these.

3-Yard Limit On Fabric Items

Up until now, we've offered up to 5-yard pieces for individual designs. Well, we're going to try limiting single items to 3-yards instead of 5, but at the same time our new shopping cart will allow you to order as many 3-yard pieces of a design as you want. So if you wanted fifteen yards of a design, you'd just have to order five 3-yard pieces. That will keep us from running the risk of printer mistakes while we're printing long pieces of fabric. Instead of a single, 5-yard strip of fabric you can order a 3-yard piece and a 2-yard piece. Make sense?

Thanks to all of you in the beta-tester group who have corresponded with us, posted designs in the Flickr group, offered feedback and ordered fabric. There is much more to come and we appreciate your patience while we work to create our brand-new business.
