MailChimp
Hi *|FNAME|*,
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
We wanted to let you know that we just totally revamped the MailChimp API.

What's different about the API?
In a nutshell, our old API only received data. Now, MailChimp talks back. A lot. So you can "pull" data out of MailChimp (like campaign stats, or subscriber info) and sync it back and forth with your own customer database. Pretty powerful stuff.

Slow down. What the heck is an API?
Honestly, if you don't know what an API is, you should probably just forward this to your techies. First, butter them up with some gifts, then tell them you want to help take email delivery off their backs. They'll be suspicious of your generosity at first, but they'll end up loving you, because it'll let them outsource a lot of their email delivery headaches off of their servers and IP addresses and just let the 'chimp handle it all. If you don't have a programmer in-house, here's a list of MailChimp Experts you can hire.

What can I do with this API thingy?
Here are some quick ideas:
  1. Sync up all your externally managed lists with MailChimp
  2. Pull unsubscribes and bounce data from MailChimp to clean your external lists
  3. Pull campaign stats from a MailChimp campaign into your company CMS or CRM
  4. Pull campaign stats into your own database, create aggregate reports, or slice n' dice however you want
  5. Link campaign stats to your internal database for behavioral targeting (ooooh, big marketing words)
  6. Pass customer data to MailChimp and send campaigns based on purchase/signup date segments
  7. Sync email activity (through AIM reports) with your customer database
